I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly

I don’t think you’re ready for this jelly

We really outdid ourselves this time, The Face Jelly is more than your average gel-moisturiser. Oftentimes, gel moisturisers just seem to dissipate once they’ve been applied, leaving skin feeling only slightly more hydrated, if anything at all. This is not the case when it comes to The Face Jelly

This gel-moisturiser leaves your skin feeling juicy and dewy in a way that needs to be felt to be understood. The water-based formula glides on smoothly, making your skin feel almost wet and after absorbing it leaves a healthy, hydrated glow that lasts all day long.

Dry vs dehydrated: what’s the difference?

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of this transformative formula, let's discuss hydration vs moisture. Many get these two confused, so let us break it down:

If your skin is lacking in moisture, it needs oil. If your skin is lacking in hydration, it needs water. Skin lacking in hydration can express itself in different ways, which is why so many get confused. Your skin can both be oily and/or acne prone, while also being dehydrated and surface dry. Skin gets dehydrated for several different reasons, from diet to the weather to using too many, or too strong active products, like acids or retinol.

Here are some signs that your skin is dehydrated or surface-dry:

  1. Your skin feels tight or itchy
  2. You have red, sensitive areas
  3. Fine lines become more pronounced
  4. Dark circles under your eyes are more prominent

The Face Jelly, The Chill Cream, The Rich Cream

The Face Jelly vs The Chill Cream vs The Rich Cream

The Face Jelly is water-based (providing hydration) in contrast to our other two moisturisers, The Chill Cream and The Rich Cream, which are oil-based and provide moisture. Some skin types need both, others prefer one or the other, sometimes depending on the season.

The Face Jelly is great for all skin types as all skin types can experience surface-dryness, but it is especially appreciated by oily, acne-prone skin types, surface-dry skin or skin craving something a little lighter yet ultra-hydrating during the hot summer months.

Can you handle this (inci)?

The list of ingredients, aka the inci, is jam-packed with a variety of incredibly nourishing and hydrating ingredients.

Hyaluronic acid is a well-known hydrating hero that helps bind water in the skin.  Antioxidant-rich centella soothes, moisturises and supports a healthy skin barrier.

Peptides are amino acids that penetrate the skin barrier, providing moisture and helping your body's natural collagen production, resulting in fine lines looking plumped. Chlorophyll, which provides the jelly’s green colour, is rich in antioxidants and vitamins C, A and E, which brightens and tightens the skin’s appearance. Together, they create a cocktail much like a green juice, that provides skin-benefitting nutrients, hydration and an unbeatable healthy glow.

Meet The Green Mask

Meet The Green Mask

Let’s talk about pores and how to minimise their appearance.

Since the dawn of skincare, pores and how to refine them have been the talk of the town. Many of us even googled how to get rid of them when we were young – clearly not understanding that pores are permanent and vital. Blackheads and impurities however, are not. With trends such as “glass skin” and the “clean girl” aesthetic becoming increasingly popular, refining, cleansing and minimising pores is a skin goal most of us are trying to achieve.

So how does one achieve a seemingly poreless complexion?

There are many treatments targeted towards minimising the appearance of pores, from acids like BHA, lactic and glycolic to mechanical exfoliators, pore strips (yikes) and the classic clay mask. Clay masks have been around forever, and while effective for some, they tend to be quite drying, exacerbating the problem. When we dry our skin out, our sebum production tends to increase and excess sebum can lead to clogged pores. It can quickly turn into an inconvenient cycle, and we now know that keeping skin hydrated and maintaining a healthy barrier is essential to achieving a clearer complexion.

There is finally an alternative for those who like the clay mask effect, but don’t love the dryness that comes with it…

This is where The Green Mask comes in. We decided to create a clarifying, deep-cleaning mask, with similar properties to a clay mask, but without the drying effect. The green mask features a blend of detoxifying matcha, exfoliating salicylic acid and bacteria-killing fermented honey. The result is a mask with pore-refining, impurity-diminishing properties, that leaves skin feeling smooth, soothed and radiant.

This is how to clarify your skin and decongest clogged pores, using the green mask.

The Green Mask is designed to be used once or twice a week. Apply a rich layer to the face, neck or wherever you feel you need it, let it sit for 5-10 minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water using massaging motions. Don’t expect that tight, dry feeling, because you won’t find it here. Instead, your skin should feel comfortable during the entire process, and incredibly clean and smooth after. You can then follow up with your traditional routine. A clearer complexion is just one mask away.

Make (sh)room for a hydrating essence

Make (sh)room for a hydrating essence

An essence is a hydrating fluid with a milky texture, somewhere in between a toner and a serum. The Shroom Essence features three types of fermented mushrooms, praised for their high water and glutamine content. Glutamine is an amino acid found in the human body that when applied topically helps support the skin’s own collagen production, increases cell turnover, and protects from environmental stressors.

How to use an essence

The Shroom Essence is a versatile product that suits all skin types. To get the most out of it, apply it to damp skin by patting it in with your hands. Repeat this process until the skin feels completely saturated with hydration. Next, we suggest locking in the hydration with a moisturiser. Which moisturiser you choose depends on what your skin needs. In the colder months of the year, we recommend The Rich Cream. For even more hydration, try The Face Jelly. You can even follow The Shroom Essence with a serum, as it will help the serum penetrate deeper into your skin.

Fermented ingredients and why we love them

Fermentation leads to the development of probiotics, which when implemented in skincare help maintain the skin’s microbiome, strengthen the skin barrier and minimise the effects of inflammation. The fermentation process also breaks down larger molecules into smaller ones, making them more deeply penetrating or “bioavailable”. Fermented ingredients also produce positive byproducts, such as amino acids and peptides that promote an even and bright skin tone.

Shroom season

Fermented mushrooms have a long history of use in the medical world thanks to their high levels of bioactive compounds. Bioactive compounds are compounds that have a direct effect on living tissue, such as skin. These ingredients can provide a wide range of benefits, such as promoting cell growth, reducing inflammation, improving hydration, and supporting the skin's natural barrier function. Our blend of fermented reishi, chaga and caterpillar mushrooms, paired with hyaluronic acid and PHA, makes The Shroom Essence the ultimate addition to any skincare routine.

Spring skin routine

Spring skin routine

Out with the old, in with the new – it’s time to update your skincare routine for spring. With the cold slowly making its retreat, we suggest shifting focus from rich, protective formulas to more lightweight, hydrating options.

Update your spring routine

If you’re a fan of The Rich Cream, but don’t need the same level of moisture during the warmer months of the year, we suggest switching to The Chill Cream which has a lighter texture but the same balancing + nourishing benefits. If you’ve been using The Shroom Essence to plump and hydrate, try exchanging it for our multi-functional toner, The Must Mist. Most importantly, it’s time to start using SPF, if you aren’t already.

The MANTLE spring routine

Step 1: Cleanse with either The Magic Milk or The Bare Balm.

Step 2: Deep clean pores and gently exfoliate with The Green Mask.

Step 3: Hydrate, prep and tone the skin using The Must Mist

Step 4: Moisturise + balance with The Chill Cream.

Spring clean your skin

Regardless of whatever kind of face masks you most enjoy using, we can all benefit from a proper deep clean every once in a while. The Green Mask is one of our spring favourites, thanks to its deep cleaning blend of 2% BHA, fermented honey, matcha and chlorophyll. Unclog your pores and exfoliate dead skin cells to reveal a smoother, clearer, more luminous complexion. The formula is also non-drying, ensuring skin remains calm and balanced.

Rosacea: What it is + the best skincare routine for sensitive skin

Rosacea: What it is + the best skincare routine for sensitive skin

Rosacea is a skin condition that causes long-term redness. It can also cause enlarged blood vessels, dry patches and spots. While the exact cause of rosacea is unknown, there are known treatment methods to help calm and balance the redness, including antibiotics and prescription creams. Adapting your skincare routine can also have a positive effect on the skin, with azelaic acid being a popular ingredient to incorporate.

Rosacea safe skincare

Rosacea is an inflammatory skin condition, but its symptoms can be managed and the risk of irritation can be minimised with a routine focused on soothing and strengthening products. Rashes can be triggered by active products containing powerful exfoliating acids or retinoids, so a mild routine designed to soften and care for the skin is preferable. Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial azelaic acid is a gentle treatment option to relieve and counteract redness.

MANTLE’s rosacea recommendations

  1. Cleanse using The Magic Milk if you have oily skin or The Bare Balm if you are on the dryer side.
  2. Spitz your face with The Must Mist to boost hydration and soothe the skin.
  3. Apply a pea-sized amount of The Treat to the most affected areas. Enriched with 10% azelaic acid, it helps minimise redness, tackle breakouts and calm the complexion.
  4. If you often have breakouts related to your rosacea, apply our non-comedogenic moisturising gel, The Face Jelly. If you are dealing with dry patches and need more moisture, use our balancing and nourishing moisturiser, The Chill Cream
  5. Last but not least, nourish your skin and lock in hydration with The Glow Serum

A facial in a jar

Heading to a big event or simply want to look and feel your very best? Look no further. The Miracle Mask is a transformative resurfacing mask that acts as a facial in a jar, providing an instant glow-up. With a gentle yet effective blend of mandelic + lactobionic acid, panthenol, hyaluronic acid and marshmallow root extract, it deeply hydrates, plumps fine lines, refines texture, and gives a long-lasting glow.

How to use The Miracle Mask

To get the most out of this miracle worker, we recommend applying it to clean, dry skin. Apply a rich layer and let it sit for 10-30 minutes. A slight tingling sensation can occur if you have very dry or sensitive skin, but no discomfort should be felt. If your skin feels tolerant, feel free to leave the mask on longer. Once you’re ready, rinse it off using massaging motions and pat your skin dry. Your complexion should feel smoother, soft and hydrated. Follow up with whatever skincare or makeup you choose.

Ingredients deep dive

This transformative formula features two exfoliants, mandelic acid, which is a large-molecular AHA, and lactobionic acid, also known as PHA. They work together to lift dead skin cells, deep clean pores, refine texture and plump the skin. Panthenol (vitamin B5) is ultra-soothing and moisturising, ensuring your complexion remains hydrated and balanced. Marshmallow root extract is also calming, while also helping reduce any redness. Hyaluronic acid is a well-known hydrator. Our formula contains three different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, allowing it to penetrate into different layers of the skin, resulting in both hydrated and plump complexion. The Miracle Mask | Before and after 30 min
